Trends are ever-evolving and there are always fresh new takes on trends from past decades! We’ve scoured the web and picked out some of the top 11 wedding dress trends we love (and you will too) in 2020! Singapore-weather-approved!
1. Off-The-Shoulder Sleeves
We’ve seen this trend in casual-wear and it is here to stay! I personally love cold shoulders (but not giving one), and I’m really glad there are wedding gown options for this!
This Willowby number is flowy, frilly and bohemian-esque. Floral lace details decorating the sleeves down to your toes and a tulle skirt draping beautifully from your hips, you’ll be twirling in this dress all day.

Superba Lace Off the Shoulder Ballgown Wedding Dress by Pronovias
A plunging neckline structured on a corset is what makes this off-the-shoulder ballgown stand out!

KASSANDRA by Alex Veil Bridal
Look at this stuff, isn’t it neat? Here’s another ballgown with a corseted top and plunging neckline, this time with tulle sleeves. This one reminds me of The Little Mermaid because of its coral-like patterns on its skirt and floral embellishments resembling corals lining the neckline. Definitely on my Pinterest board.
2. Superhero
Marvel/DC Comics fan? Me too! Play pretend with capes and mock capes and cover up in the chicest and most dramatic way. If you don’t want cold shoulders, capes would make a fitting replacement for a jacket that matches your dress! Albeit lacking in the warmth department…and that was a really cold joke. I’ll be seeing myself out now.

Palmer Cape in Almond by Terani Couture
Exquisite and beautifully embellished with sequined flowers and pearls, this cape will bring your minimalistic gown up a notch!

Carla Short Cape by Made with Love Bridal (for rent on Frieda Brides)
For brides who are eyeing dresses with more details but don’t want to miss out on some cape action, a simple tulle one with lace trimmings like this number might work for you.

Great Gatsby Wedding Capelet by Magnificence Bridal
The Great Gatsby has inspired many, and this art deco cape will turn back time and take you back to the 1920s.
3. Airy Dresses
Airy Dresses are so in! They are the perfect solution to outdoor weddings and especially Singapore’s humid weather. Sheer, sophisticated and sexy, a popular choice for brides who wouldn’t mind showing a little extra skin and not break too much of a sweat.
Sleeves or no sleeves, your bridal dreams will come true with the Amelie dress by Anna Campbell.

Frankie by Made with Love Bridal (for rent on Frieda Brides)
THIS DRESS HAS POCKETS! Wedding gowns with pockets should be the next, if not a trend in 2020!

Sellia by Devotion Dresses
This is another number that screams The Little Mermaid. I would really love to rule the land and seas in this dress its coral-looking cuffs! If only Ariel wore these instead for her marriage to Eric.
4. Corsets!
Whenever I think of corsets, the first image that comes to mind is of a handmaiden tugging at the laces of the corset while a princess winces in pain and clings on to her vanity for her life. Very graphic, I know. But if you’ve ever considered wearing a corset or shapewear under your wedding dress, why not try an inbuilt one? It’s probably more comfortable and you won’t have to worry too much about covering them up. Also more ideal for humid weather.

Margaret by Alex Veil Bridal
This elegant number has delicate gold details on its corset and would go perfectly with gold jewellery. I absolutely adore this piece and its sleeves are detachable!
Corset top decorated with laser cut floral appliqué and exposed boning, it’s a perfect nude illusion with this ballgown.

Ruffles layering the skirt of this dress, separate sleeves and a sweetheart neckline emphasizing the décolleté. This handmade number’s made for a bohemian bride and a summertime dream.
5. Full Coverage
This trend is all about “The Duchess Effect” and keeping things modest and fully covered. If you have conservative guests, some of these might work great for covering up your tattoos!

Ivory Glitter Wedding Dress by Vanilla WFG
Bedazzled from head to toe, this piece is a stunner! If you have short limbs like me, that wouldn’t be too much of an issue with this one. This dress features puffy sleeves which are a little more forgiving when it comes to having extra fabric length at the wrist unlike slim, fitting ones (e.g. on cardigans).
Sequined floral patterns all over the top piece, tulle pieces delicately covering the bust, and beadings all over its tulle skirt. A magical piece that would work beautifully in the day time!

This unique wedding dress is a marriage of contrasting styles – bohemian and minimalist. Very bohemian elements – thigh-high side slit, lace decorating the waistline and mesh panels of floral laser-cut appliqué, contrasting with its minimalistic sleeves and body.
